Getting married in Mallorca

Mallorca is the destination wedding with the shortest list of problems. Flights are frequent and cheap from most of northern Europe, the island is small enough that nothing is more than an hour away, guest accommodation runs from hostels to five stars, and the finca-and-terrace format is so well practised that suppliers speak fluent wedding English. It suits couples who want the sea, a relaxed island weekend and a low chance of anything going strangely wrong.

The Tramuntana mountains in the northwest give you olive terraces and stone fincas, the south gives you beaches and light. The trade-offs are seasonality and price: everything on the island books out between June and September, when hotel rates roughly double and roads fill with hire cars. What surprises couples is how strictly quiet hours are enforced in some municipalities, and how quickly the best fincas go, often eighteen months ahead for a Saturday in high summer.

The three that catch people out

Know before you book

  1. 1

Municipal quiet hours can end amplified outdoor music earlier than you expect. Get the curfew and the indoor fallback in writing with the finca contract.

  2. 2

High-season hotel prices roughly double and hire cars sell out. Publish your date and hotel suggestions at least nine months ahead.

  3. 3

Popular fincas take Saturdays in high summer twelve to eighteen months out. If a specific property matters to you, secure it before anything else.

Getting there

Palma is a large, well-connected airport with cheap flights from across Europe, and no venue on the island is more than about an hour from it. Most guests will hire a car, which is easy but expensive in July and August, so consider running shuttles from two or three hotel clusters instead. Ferries from Barcelona and Valencia are an option for guests who prefer not to fly and are travelling with a car.

Before you promise anyone anything

Foreign couples frequently marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on the island. Where a local civil marriage is available, requirements, documents, translations and any residence or waiting period vary by nationality, by municipality and over time. Nothing here is legal advice: verify the current position with the local town hall and your own authorities before you book.

Marriage rules vary by country, region and even municipality, and they change. Treat this as orientation, not legal advice: verify the paperwork with the local authority and with your own municipality before you book anything.

49 wedding venues in Mallorca

Gathered offline through research from each venue’s own website, never a live feed, and never paid for. A venue is listed because it exists and takes weddings, not because Vow endorses it; the one line under each is what a planner would tell you to check before asking for a quote. Venue details are shown as the venue publishes them.
