Getting married in Cote d'Azur

The Riviera is the destination for couples who want polish: villas above the sea, palm terraces, dinner with the lights of the bay below and a party that runs properly late. It suits a guest list that will happily turn a wedding into a holiday, because Nice, Antibes and Saint-Tropez give them beaches, restaurants and old towns to fill the days around your one. Everything is easy here by destination-wedding standards: the airport is close, hotels come at every price point, and suppliers are used to international couples.

Everything is also expensive, and in July and August it is crowded to the point of gridlock. What surprises couples is how much of the budget disappears into transfers and staff hours, and how strictly the coastal communes police late-night noise near residential areas. Ask about the sound curfew first and design the evening around the answer, whether that means moving indoors at midnight or booking a venue with no neighbours at all.

The three that catch people out

Know before you book

  1. 1

Coastal noise rules bite hardest near residential areas. Confirm the amplified-music cut-off in writing and plan the last hour of the party around it.

  2. 2

July and August traffic can turn a twenty-minute transfer into an hour. Schedule generously or choose a venue guests can reach on foot from their hotel.

  3. 3

Many villas cap guest numbers well below what the terrace looks like it holds. Get the maximum seated figure confirmed before you send invitations.

Getting there

Nice is one of the best-connected airports in Europe and sits fifteen to sixty minutes from most venues on the coast, with a tram into the city and a coastal rail line that guests can use without a car. Marseille and Toulon serve the western end. Hotels are the guest expense to warn about: high-season rates on the coast can exceed the flight, so publish options at three price levels.

Before you promise anyone anything

Couples coming from abroad usually marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony on the coast. Where a local civil marriage is possible, the documents, translations and any residence or publication periods vary by nationality, by commune and over time. This is not legal advice: verify the current requirements with the local town hall and your own authorities before you fix a date.

Marriage rules vary by country, region and even municipality, and they change. Treat this as orientation, not legal advice: verify the paperwork with the local authority and with your own municipality before you book anything.

Researched venues

49 wedding venues in Cote d'Azur

Gathered offline through research from each venue’s own website, never a live feed, and never paid for. A venue is listed because it exists and takes weddings, not because Vow endorses it; the one line under each is what a planner would tell you to check before asking for a quote. Venue details are shown as the venue publishes them.

  • wine estate

    Château de Bellet

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An organic vineyard on the hills above Nice with a 19th-century chapel on site, marketed as fully privatisable for weddings, and the closest thing to a country estate inside the Nice city limits. Its own event and wedding subpages were returning server errors when checked, so capacity and rates have to be requested by email; confirm the access road for coaches.

  • hotel

    La Bastide de Tourtour

    Capacity
    up to 90 people
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A four-star hotel and spa in a four-hectare park above the hilltop village of Tourtour, with a long panorama over the Var, suited to mid-sized weddings that want guests sleeping on site. The hotel states it takes weddings only between 1 October and 15 June and requires a two-day privatisation, so a July or August date has to be negotiated separately.

  • chateau hotel

    Château d'Argens

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A four-star hotel and restaurant in a medieval chateau above Les Arcs-sur-Argens in the central Var, with eleven units of on-site accommodation, its own catering and a pool, which suits an inland two-day wedding away from coastal prices. Numbers and rates are quote-only, so ask early what the maximum seated figure actually is.

  • chateau

    Château de Robernier

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A privately owned chateau in the vineyards at Montfort-sur-Argens, about 40 km from Saint-Tropez, rented on request with a chapel, courtyard and ballroom. The owners state they host only a few weddings a year and ask couples to plan well ahead; the website is dated and gives no figures, so everything including capacity comes by email.

  • hotel

    Althoff Villa Belrose

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A five-star hilltop hotel above the bay of Saint-Tropez at Gassin, with 39 rooms and suites and a dedicated weddings and private celebrations page. Guest numbers and rates are not published, so ask what the terrace and pool areas actually seat and whether the hotel has to be taken exclusively in high season.

    Capacity
reception room of 150 m2 for up to 120 guests
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A working Provence wine estate at Le Muy between the Esterel and the Var hinterland, renting an air-conditioned 150 m2 room above the barrel cellar plus a garden and terrace, with guest houses a short walk away. The estate states that all wine served at your event must be bought from its own cellar, and it makes the room available the day before for setting up.

  • wine estate

    La Font des Pères

    Capacity
6 indoor and outdoor reception spaces for up to 100 people; 25 rooms sleeping up to 60
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An organic Bandol wine estate on terraced vines in the western Var, with a gastronomic table, a spa and four villas, which suits a relaxed two-day country wedding for a hundred rather than a coastal show. Rates come by brochure only; check how the sleeping capacity of 60 lines up with your guest list before counting on everyone staying on site.

  • wine estate

    Domaine de La Croix

    Capacity
indoor rooms up to 250 guests; garden and terrace up to 250
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A vineyard reception space on the Saint-Tropez peninsula at La Croix-Valmer, with a 1,500 m2 garden and 220 m2 terrace over the vines plus large contemporary indoor rooms, private parking, a lift and a caterer's area. The estate states outdoor cocktails are allowed until midnight and the party may continue indoors until 4am, which is the key constraint to plan the timeline around.

  • hotel

Hostellerie de l'Abbaye de la Celle

    Capacity
chapter house 50 seated; restaurant and veranda 70 seated; shaded terrace 140 seated
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A five-star Ducasse-run hostellerie beside a 12th-century Benedictine abbey in the Coteaux Varois, with a vaulted chapter house, a shaded terrace, a 2.5-hectare park and only ten rooms and suites, which suits a small refined wedding rather than a large one. The site notes the hotel closes Tuesday and Wednesday in low season, so confirm your date is an operating one.

  • wine estate

    Château de Crémat

    Capacity
capacity 250 people across 1,500 m2 of indoor and outdoor space
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A biodynamic vineyard on the hills above Nice with panoramic sea terraces, gardens and indoor rooms, offering full privatisation with furniture, parking, security and a wedding coordinator included. The estate states music may run until 3am but indoors only, so the outdoor part of the evening has to end earlier.

  • bastide

    Bastide du Roy

    Capacity
not published; spaces given as areas, e.g. a 400 m2 covered pavilion
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A listed historic bastide above Antibes with a French garden, a Spanish garden, a courtyard, a pool terrace and a 400 m2 glazed olive-grove pavilion that doubles as the wet-weather plan. The site lists past weddings by date but publishes no guest numbers or rates, so ask for the capacity of each space and how the pavilion is priced.

  • chateau

    Château Diter

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A private chateau with formal gardens and a pool on the Route de Pegomas at Grasse, offered for weddings and receptions and also rentable for longer private stays. Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A family-run wine and olive estate at Seillans in the Fayence country of the Var, offering a reception room and a panoramic terrace in the middle of the vineyard plus on-site accommodation, which puts it at the affordable end of the region. The website is dated and gives no figures; contact is by telephone, so plan on a call rather than a form.

  • reception venue

    Le Cube Réceptions

    Capacity
Salon Jasmin of 250 m2 for up to 150 guests; panoramic terrace of over 300 m2
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A contemporary hired reception space above Grasse with a light 250 m2 room, a large panoramic terrace looking down the valley to the bay of Cannes, and all the furniture, bars and step-free access included. There is no accommodation on site, so budget for transport back to Grasse or Cannes at the end of the night.

    Château Saint Georges

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A listed Second Empire chateau in a three-hectare park on the heights of Grasse, offered for fully private and exclusive weddings with several reception rooms, bedrooms, an indoor pool and a heated outdoor tent. not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An AOP Cotes de Provence estate at Roquebrune-sur-Argens with two reception rooms, a patio and a garden among the vines, part of a small local group that also runs a nearby golf resort. not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A 17th-century manor turned four-star hotel inside the Opio Valbonne golf estate between Grasse and Valbonne, offering rooms, terraces, a park and full hire of its restaurant for a wedding. Guest numbers and rates are not published; check how the golf course programme constrains access to the terraces on your date.

  • equestrian and wine estate

    Domaine du Cheval d'Argens

    Capacity
up to 70 people indoors and up to 120 people outdoors
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A working equestrian and wine estate in the Var offering plain hall hire for weddings, with setup allowed from Thursday midday and use of the site until Sunday evening, which makes a full weekend feasible at a modest level. Catering and everything else is the couple's own arrangement, so factor in supplier costs on top of the hire.

  • wine estate

    Château Sainte Croix

    Capacity
restaurant seats 100 indoors; terrace up to 150 people
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A wine estate with rooms between the Carces lake and the Thoronet abbey in the Provence Verte part of the Var, using its Le Patriarche restaurant and a large outdoor terrace for receptions. It is an hour inland from the coast, so plan guest transport; ask how many of the estate's own rooms you can hold for the wedding party.

  • wine estate

    Château Nestuby

    Capacity
modular event room of 250 m2 with 2 hectares of grounds attached
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A family wine estate at Cotignac in the Provence Verte, using a converted sheepfold as a bright 250 m2 modular reception room with olive trees and vines around it for an outdoor ceremony. Guest rooms and suites in the 18th-century house let the wedding party stay on site; the number of beds is limited, so book them at the same time as the room.

  • hotel

    Cap d'Antibes Beach Hotel

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A 35-room five-star hotel on the Garoupe shore at Cap d'Antibes that privatises its restaurants, pool, beach or the whole property for weddings. No guest capacities or rates are published, and the hotel is seasonal, so confirm the opening dates for your year before fixing anything.

  • hotel

    Capacity
fine-dining restaurant up to 50 guests; lounge bar up to 38 guests
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A small clifftop hotel in the medieval village of Eze whose restaurant and terraces look straight down onto the Mediterranean, suited to an intimate wedding of fifty rather than a large one. Interiors and terraces can be privatised and a wedding dossier is offered on request; note the village is pedestrian, so guests and suppliers have to walk the last stretch.

  • wine estate

    Domaine de la Bouverie

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A Cotes de Provence wine estate at Roquebrune-sur-Argens, near Saint-Raphael, that hires out its reception space for country-style weddings alongside cellar tastings and direct wine sales. The site publishes no capacities or rates and enquiries go through a phone number, so call early in the planning if you want a summer Saturday.

  • art centre

    Port Tonic Art Center

    Capacity
up to 160 guests for a cocktail, indoor and outdoor spaces
    Price
from EUR 1,500 including tax, depending on season, format and level of privatisation

A converted boatyard on the water at Les Issambres, between Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Raphael, run as a contemporary art centre and residence and hired out for weddings and private dinners among the works. It is a raw venue rather than a hotel, so caterer, furniture and accommodation are all separate, and the gallery programme runs July to September, which may limit which spaces are free.

  • country estate

    Domaine des Courmettes

    Capacity
marquee seats up to 150 for a banquet, April to October; meadows and a hall for cocktails
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A 600-hectare nature estate above Tourrettes-sur-Loup at around 850 metres, looking down over the coast, with simple on-site accommodation and a marquee as the main reception space. It is a plain outdoor setting rather than a polished venue and the marquee is only up from April to October, so a winter or wet-weather date needs a different plan.

  • villa

    Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
exclusive privatisation from EUR 100,000, as published on the venue's wedding page

A Belle Epoque villa with nine themed gardens on the Cap Ferrat ridge, suited to couples whose budget is built around the setting rather than around guest numbers. The events site stated the 2026 reception calendar was already full when checked, so ask which season is actually open before planning anything else, and note it is a public museum with visitor hours to work around.

  • event estate

    Le Park Mougins

    Capacity
Salon Riviera up to 250 seated indoors; outdoor spaces up to 1,200 for a cocktail
    Price
from EUR 14,000, varying by season, guest count and services — as published in the venue's FAQ

One of the few Riviera venues that publishes both a capacity and a starting rate, which makes it a usable anchor for comparing quotes ten minutes from Cannes. The venue states it runs one exclusive event per day; confirm what the starting figure includes, since catering and rentals are quoted separately.

  • wine estate

    Château Saint-Roux

    Capacity
terrace banquet 200 and garden ceremony 250 (tent hire on request); La Grange banquet 50
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An organic estate around a 15th-century farmhouse at Le Cannet-des-Maures with rooms, gîtes and lofts on site, so a core group can sleep where the party is. The larger figures depend on tent hire, so establish early whether marquee cost sits with you or the venue.

  • wine estate

    Château Sainte Roseline

    Capacity
up to 220 guests, depending on the period and the chosen configuration
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A cru classé wine estate at Les Arcs-sur-Argens with a 12th-century cloister and an 11th-century chapel, giving a ceremony, a cocktail and a dinner three distinct settings without leaving the property. The published ceiling moves with the season and layout, so pin the configuration to your date before you send invitations.

  • wine estate hotel

    Château de Berne

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A working vineyard near Flayosc that also runs a hotel and restaurants, so the welcome dinner, the wedding and the next-day lunch can all sit on one estate. Neither capacity nor rates are published; ask for the glass-roofed Jasmine Garden figure specifically, as it is the main covered option.

  • winery

    Château Mentone

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A vineyard estate at Saint-Antonin-du-Var whose main reception space, La Magnanerie, pairs a hall with a terrace and a cobbled former threshing floor. The estate advertises a turnkey arrangement covering spaces, catering and entertainment, so check how much freedom you have to bring your own suppliers.

  • wine estate

    Domaine Tropez

    Capacity
up to 150 guests for private receptions; 200 m2 reception room and a 500 m2 terrace
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A vineyard estate in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez that keeps a Saint-Tropez address at a lower profile than the seafront hotels. Rates come only via a downloadable brochure, so request it early, and factor the drive: the site notes roughly two hours from Nice and Marseille airports.

  • hotel

    Château de La Messardière

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A hilltop château hotel above Saint-Tropez run by Airelles, geared to multi-day celebrations with guest rooms and a honeymoon suite on site. Nothing is published on capacity or cost, so expect a bespoke quotation and ask what minimum room commitment comes attached to the venue.

  • beach club

    Jardin Tropezina

    Capacity
    up to 150 guests
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A beach club in a pine grove on the Bay of Pampelonne offering full or partial privatisation, which suits a barefoot second-day party more than a formal seated wedding. Pampelonne beach concessions run on seasonal licences with their own noise and closing rules, so get the end time in writing.

  • hotel

    Villa Marie Saint-Tropez

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A small Italianate hotel in a three-hectare pine grove at Ramatuelle overlooking Saint-Tropez, better suited to an intimate wedding built around ceremony, dinner and a poolside brunch. Capacity is not published, so confirm the seated figure and whether exclusive use of the hotel is required in high season.

  • hotel

    Château de la Chèvre d'Or

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A hotel spread through the medieval village of Èze on a cliff between Nice and Monaco, with terraces rather than one large hall, so guest lists stay modest. Access is on foot through narrow village lanes; plan how older guests, deliveries and the dress reach the venue.

  • hotel

    Cap Estel

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A twenty-room property on its own peninsula at Èze-Bord-de-Mer, sold on privacy and typically taken on full buy-out for a wedding. No numbers are published; ask what a whole-property booking includes and how many nights the house requires around the wedding date.

  • hotel

    Hôtel Belles Rives

    Capacity
private beach for up to 300 people; hotel has 43 rooms and suites
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An Art Deco seafront hotel at Juan-les-Pins whose private beach carries the largest published headcount of the coastal hotels here. The beach is the capacity, not the restaurant, so agree a wet-weather plan and confirm what the indoor rooms actually seat.

  • hotel

    Le Mas Candille

    Capacity
cocktail 80, theatre 70, rectangle layout 36; 46 rooms and suites
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A 46-room hotel in a four-hectare park at Mougins, close enough to Cannes for guests to fly in easily while keeping the celebration in the hills. Published figures top out around 80 for a cocktail, so this is a small-wedding venue unless outdoor space is added by arrangement.

  • hotel resort

    Terre Blanche

    Capacity
Fayence Room up to 250 cocktail or 200 seated; the Patio up to 120 banquet; pool terrace 100
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A large golf and spa resort at Tourrettes in the Var hills that publishes room-by-room capacities, which makes it easy to size a plan before contacting anyone. It is a working resort rather than an exclusive-use estate, so confirm whether other guests share the grounds on your date.

  • chateau

Château de la Croix des Gardes

    Capacity
great room 160 standing or 80 seated; the estate is described as hosting events for 1,500 guests
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A private estate in the hills above Cannes that states it takes only a limited number of bespoke events each year, so availability is the first question, not the price. The indoor and outdoor figures differ sharply; establish which one your reception actually depends on.

  • castle

    Château Castellaras

    Capacity
cloister 100, gala room 70, conference room 60, bar 50, park up to 1,000; 12 bedrooms sleeping 24
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A castle in the hills behind Cannes with medieval architectural elements, a chapel and gardens, sleeping 24 across three buildings. Indoor spaces cap around 100, so a larger guest list means committing to the park and to marquee hire.

    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A restored seafront castle with formal gardens at Mandelieu-La Napoule, minutes from Cannes and under half an hour from Nice airport, run by the arts foundation that owns it. It is an open museum and cultural site, so confirm access times, the setup window and what the foundation allows in the historic rooms.

  • hotel

    Le Domaine de l'Abbaye

    Capacity
up to 100 people maximum; 15 rooms, minimum one-night stay
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A former 12th-century priory at La Colle-sur-Loup, privatised for one wedding at a time with a stated ceiling of 100 guests and 15 rooms on site. The one-night minimum applies to the rooms, so build the accommodation cost into the comparison rather than treating it as an extra.

  • bastide

    La Bastide de Montferrat

    Capacity
up to 100 seated with a dance floor; 20 rooms on the estate
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A family-run Provençal estate near Draguignan, privatised for the day with cooking done in house and twenty rooms for guests, which keeps a mid-budget weekend on one site. Catering is by the owners rather than an outside caterer, so check menu flexibility and dietary handling early.

  • bastide

    Château des Demoiselles

    Capacity
up to 120 guests maximum for outdoor events; guest rooms for 14 people
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

An 1830 bastide on a vineyard estate at La Motte in the Var, with dinner set in the park under plane trees and a next-day brunch offered. The published capacity is for outdoor use, so ask what the wet-weather alternative seats before committing to 120.

  • bastide

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A privatised bastide at Entrecasteaux in the Provence Verte, set up for two- or three-day celebrations with a glass-enclosed hall as the covered option. Neither capacity nor rates appear on the site, so request both in writing, along with the number of beds included in the privatisation.

  • estate

    Capacity
up to 250 seated under the bamboo-mast tent; 5 suites and 2 gîtes, 26 beds in total
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A 15th-century estate at Brignoles in the Provence Verte, roughly halfway between Saint-Tropez and the Verdon, with one of the higher published seated capacities in the hinterland. Note the gap between 250 seated and 26 beds on site: most guests will need hotels and transport back.

  • estate

    Domaine de la Mourachonne

    Capacity
    not published
    Price
not published — ask for the brochure

A garden estate with a pond and a reception hall at Mouans-Sartoux, sitting between Cannes, Grasse, Antibes and Nice, which keeps guest transfers short. Only five rooms are on site and no capacity is published, so confirm the seated figure and book nearby accommodation early.
