Trouwen in Catalonië

Catalonië is de versie van een Spaanse bruiloft waarbij je niet hoeft te kiezen tussen stad en platteland. Barcelona geeft jullie paleizen, daken en een gastenlijst die zonder huurauto kan komen. Veertig minuten landinwaarts zet de Penedès jullie tussen de cavawijngaarden en de masies, de stenen boerderijen waaruit het locatieaanbod van de streek grotendeels bestaat.

Ten noorden van Girona ruilt de Costa Brava de wijnstokken in voor dennen, kliffen en kleine baaien, terwijl Tarragona en Sitges de kust in het zuiden dekken. Het past bij stellen die willen dat hun gasten drie dagen iets te doen hebben, en die het idee prettig vinden van een welkomstdiner in de stad en een bruiloft in het veld. De streek werkt eerst in het Catalaans en dan pas in het Spaans, wat praktisch niets voor jullie verandert maar wel verklaart waarom sommige websites van leveranciers vreemd vertaald lezen.

Wat stellen verrast, is hoe ver de noordelijke kust van Barcelona ligt zodra je Girona voorbij bent, en hoe stevig een masia-pakket jullie richting de eigen keuken stuurt. Vergelijk het totaal per persoon, niet de huurprijs.

Weet dit voordat je boekt

    De meeste masies werken met een vaste lijst cateraars, of eisen hun eigen keuken. Vraag om die lijst en om de alles-in-prijs per gast voordat je locaties op de huurprijs vergelijkt.

    Geluidsregels worden per gemeente vastgesteld en stoppen versterkte muziek buiten eerder dan het feest verwacht. Laat de exacte eindtijd en het alternatief binnen in het contract opnemen, niet per e-mail afspreken.

    Barcelona, Sitges en de kustplaatsen lopen in juli en augustus vol, en de hotelprijzen stijgen mee. Valt jullie datum in de hoogzomer, reserveer dan negen tot twaalf maanden vooruit een blok kamers voor gasten.

Ernaartoe komen

Barcelona El Prat is een van de best bereikbare luchthavens van Europa: Sitges ligt op ongeveer een half uur, de Penedès op zo'n drie kwartier en Tarragona op ongeveer een uur. Girona bedient de noordelijke Costa Brava met vooral Europese prijsvechters, en Reus dekt het zuiden. Hogesnelheidstreinen verbinden Barcelona met Girona, Tarragona, Madrid en de Franse grens, dus gasten die liever niet vliegen hebben een echt alternatief. Publiceer de luchthaven, het dichtstbijzijnde station en de rijtijd vanaf elk hotel dat jullie aanraden, want de drie aankomstpunten liggen ver uit elkaar.

Voordat je iemand iets belooft

Buitenlandse stellen houden hier heel vaak een symbolische ceremonie en ronden het juridische huwelijk thuis af, waardoor het papierwerk binnen een systeem en een taal blijft die ze al kennen. Waar een burgerlijk of kerkelijk huwelijk ter plaatse überhaupt mogelijk is, verschillen de eisen, documenten, vertalingen en een eventuele woon- of wachttermijn per gemeente, per nationaliteit en door de tijd heen.
