Trouwen in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is de bruiloft in het buitenland voor een gastenlijst die over Europa verspreid zit en weinig vrije dagen heeft: iedereen landt op één luchthaven, checkt in in één buurt en loopt of tramt daarna naar alles toe. De stad biedt drie duidelijk verschillende gezichten. Een zeventiende-eeuws grachtenpand met een tuin erachter geeft jullie de intieme, formele versie.

Een kale industriehal in het westen of in de haven geeft ruimte, hoogte en een late eindtijd. Een museum- of monumentzaal geeft een diner dat niemand vergeet. Richting Amstelveen en Haarlemmermeer voegt de rand van de stad groene landgoederen en buitenhuizen toe op een half uur van het centrum.

Het past bij gezelschappen van veertig tot honderdtwintig mensen. De beperkingen zijn vloeroppervlak, trappen en geluid: grachtenpanden zijn hoog en smal, liften zijn zeldzaam, en de buren wonen direct boven en naast het feest. Wat stellen verrast, is het verschil tussen een zaterdag in juni en een vrijdag in dezelfde week, en hoeveel locaties alleen de zaal offreren, met catering, personeel en huur op aparte regels.

Weet dit voordat je boekt

    Grachtenpanden zijn hoog en smal en hebben zelden een lift. Controleer het aantal zitplaatsen per verdieping en hoe gasten die slecht ter been zijn de ceremoniezaal bereiken.

    Locaties in de stad staan in woonstraten en zetten versterkte muziek vroeg stop. Laat de eindtijd, een eventuele geluidsnorm en de afbouwtijd in het contract opnemen.

    Zalen en zaterdagen pieken van mei tot september en rond grote evenementen in de stad. Een donderdag of vrijdag koopt meestal een mooiere zaal voor hetzelfde budget.

Ernaartoe komen

Schiphol ligt vijftien minuten met de trein van Amsterdam Centraal en is een van de best bereikbare luchthavens van Europa, en internationale treinen uit Londen, Brussel, Parijs en Duitsland komen aan in het centrum. Als gasten er eenmaal zijn, heeft niemand een auto nodig: trams, de metro, boten en hun eigen benen dekken de stad, en parkeren bij het hotel is duur genoeg om te vermijden. Reserveer kamers in één of twee buurten en publiceer de loop- en tramtijden tussen het hotel, de ceremonie en het diner.

Voordat je iemand iets belooft

Veel stellen ronden het juridische huwelijk af bij hun eigen gemeentehuis en houden een vrije ceremonie op de locatie. In Nederland is een ceremonie alleen juridisch bindend op een plek die de gemeente als trouwlocatie heeft aangewezen, of via een huwelijk op locatie dat jullie met de gemeente afspreken voor jullie datum en gebouw. Voorwaarden, doorlooptijden, kosten en welke gebouwen in aanmerking komen, verschillen per gemeente en veranderen door de tijd heen. Niets hiervan is juridisch advies: vraag het na bij de gemeente waar jullie willen trouwen en bij jullie eigen instanties, en zorg dat je het antwoord schriftelijk hebt voordat je erop gaat plannen.

Trouwregels verschillen per land, per regio en zelfs per gemeente, en ze veranderen. Zie dit als oriëntatie, niet als juridisch advies: controleer de papieren bij de plaatselijke autoriteit én bij je eigen gemeente voordat je iets boekt.
