Se marier : Sicile

La Sicile récompense les couples qui s'engagent sur un seul de ses coins. Palerme offre une grandeur défraîchie, des marchés et une ville qui ne se range jamais tout à fait. Taormine offre la terrasse au-dessus de la mer avec l'Etna dans le cadre, aux prix les plus élevés de l'île.

Noto, Modica et Raguse offrent des villes baroques couleur miel à une heure environ de Catane, et Syracuse offre Ortygie. Entre les deux se trouvent des domaines viticoles sur la terre volcanique noire de l'Etna et des bagli, ces fermes fortifiées de l'ouest, qui se louent en entier pour un week-end. Les coûts restent en général inférieurs aux classiques du continent pour une beauté comparable, et la cuisine justifie à elle seule le voyage.

La part honnête, c'est la géographie : l'île est grande, Palerme-Taormine fait environ trois heures d'autoroute, et une liste d'invités partagée entre les deux extrémités passera ses vacances en minibus. L'autre part honnête, c'est août, quand les températures dépassent régulièrement trente-cinq degrés, que le sirocco peut les maintenir plus haut pendant des jours, et que la côte est au plus bondé et au plus cher autour du Ferragosto.

    Le choix de l'aéroport fixe votre moitié d'île : Catane pour Taormine, l'Etna, Syracuse et le Val di Noto, Palerme pour l'ouest. La traversée entre les deux prend environ trois heures : gardez donc le lieu, les hôtels et l'aéroport dans la même zone.

    La chaleur de l'été est un problème de conception plutôt qu'un détail. Entre juin et septembre, placez la cérémonie à 18 h ou plus tard, prévoyez de l'ombre et de l'eau, et décidez de ce qui se passe si le sirocco arrive, ce qu'il peut faire avec un jour de préavis.

    Les domaines ruraux viennent souvent avec peu de matériel et un traiteur maison que vous ne pouvez pas remplacer. Demandez un inventaire écrit, les dispositions pour l'électricité et le groupe électrogène, et si un autocar peut atteindre le portail, avant de comparer les devis.

S'y rendre

Catane Fontanarossa est la porte d'entrée de l'est : Taormine est à environ une heure d'autoroute, Syracuse à une heure environ, et le Val di Noto à quatre-vingt-dix minutes. Palerme Falcone-Borsellino dessert l'ouest et Cefalù, et Comiso est une petite troisième option pour Raguse et Modica, avec peu de vols. Les lignes européennes directes sont saisonnières et se raréfient nettement hors de l'été : vérifiez les vols de votre mois réel avant de fixer la date. Presque chaque invité aura besoin d'une voiture de location ou d'un transfert réservé, car les routes de campagne sont lentes et un autocar ne peut pas toujours atteindre un domaine agricole. Dites à vos invités quel aéroport réserver, pas seulement quelle île.

La plupart des couples étrangers qui se marient en Italie règlent le mariage civil dans leur pays et tiennent ici une cérémonie symbolique ou religieuse, même si un mariage civil local est possible dans certains cas. Une cérémonie civile ailleurs qu'à la mairie suppose que le comune ait désigné ce lieu pour les mariages, et les papiers, les traductions, la légalisation, les frais et les éventuels délais de déclaration ou d'attente diffèrent selon la nationalité, selon le comune et dans le temps.
