Trouwen in Brussel

Brussel is ondergewaardeerd als trouwstad en een beetje onhandig als plek om er een te organiseren, wat ongeveer dezelfde zin is. Het aanbod is bijzonder: art-nouveauherenhuizen met glas-in-lood en ijzeren trappen, oranjerieën en serres in de parken, verbouwde industriehallen langs het kanaal in het westen, een handvol grand hotels, en de groene zuidrand richting Ukkel en het Zoniënwoud waar de stad zich niet langer als hoofdstad gedraagt. Bijna elke gast kan met de trein komen, rechtstreeks vanuit Londen, Parijs, Amsterdam, Keulen en vrijwel heel België, en de luchthaven ligt twintig minuten van het centrum, dus een weekend hier kost gasten minder vakantiedagen dan bijna elke andere bestemming.

De catering is sterk en merkbaar goedkoper dan in Parijs of Amsterdam. Het onhandige zit in de administratie: het gewest bestaat uit negentien afzonderlijke gemeenten, elk met een eigen gemeentehuis en eigen regels over geluid, terrassen en vergunningen, dus het antwoord dat jullie krijgen hangt af van de straat waarin de locatie staat. Regen is in elke maand mogelijk, waardoor een plan voor binnen een eis is en geen achtervang.

Weet dit voordat je boekt

    De lage-emissiezone dekt alle negentien gemeenten, de klok rond, buitenlandse kentekens moeten vooraf worden geregistreerd en voertuigen die niet voldoen krijgen een boete. Controleer huurauto's, een eventuele klassieke trouwauto en de bussen van leveranciers aan de huidige norm.

    Geluidsnormen, sluitingstijden en vergunningen worden per gemeente vastgesteld en niet door het gewest. Stel vast in welke gemeente de locatie ligt, en laat de eindtijd voor versterkte muziek schriftelijk bevestigen.

    Beschermde art-nouveau- en monumentale interieurs beperken kaarsen, bevestigingen, vloerbelasting en gastenaantallen, en veel ervan hebben smalle trappen en geen lift. Vraag om de huisregels en het echte aantal zitplaatsen per verdieping.

Ernaartoe komen

Brussels Airport in Zaventem ligt ongeveer twintig minuten met de trein van het centrum, en Charleroi, een uur naar het zuiden, verwerkt de meeste vluchten van prijsvechters. Brussel-Zuid ontvangt de Eurostar uit Londen en hogesnelheidstreinen uit Parijs, Amsterdam en Keulen, terwijl binnenlandse treinen Brugge, Gent en Antwerpen binnen het uur bereiken, dus veel gasten kun je beter een trein dan een vlucht laten boeken. In de stad dekken tram, metro en taxi alles, en parkeren bij het hotel is duur genoeg om te vermijden. Controleer voor locaties aan het kanaal of aan de groene zuidrand de laatste tram en regel taxi's vooraf. Zet het station als standaard aankomstpunt op de site, niet de luchthaven.

Voordat je iemand iets belooft

Buitenlandse stellen ronden het juridische huwelijk meestal thuis af en houden een symbolische of kerkelijke ceremonie op de locatie. In België is het burgerlijk huwelijk een zaak van de gemeente, en een ceremonie ergens anders dan op het gemeentehuis hangt ervan af of die gemeente de plek formeel als trouwlocatie heeft aangewezen; voorwaarden, documenten, kosten en eventuele meldings- of woonvereisten verschillen per nationaliteit, per gemeente en door de tijd heen. Niets hiervan is juridisch advies: leg de vraag voor aan het gemeentehuis van de Brusselse gemeente waar jullie willen trouwen en aan jullie eigen instanties, en zorg dat je het antwoord schriftelijk hebt voordat jullie iets boeken.

Trouwregels verschillen per land, per regio en zelfs per gemeente, en ze veranderen. Zie dit als oriëntatie, niet als juridisch advies: controleer de papieren bij de plaatselijke autoriteit én bij je eigen gemeente voordat je iets boekt.
