Cookies
Four cookies, named and explained. Three are needed for the site to work; one is analytics, and it is off until you say otherwise.
Effective 2026-08-21
Your choice
You have not answered yet. Until you do, nothing is counted.
Turning analytics off deletes the vow_sid cookie straight away. Clearing your choice removes the record of it as well, so the bar asks again on your next visit.
The essential ones
These are not asked about, because without them the thing you came for does not work. None of them is used to track you, and none of them is shared with anyone.
- Your sign-in session — set by Supabase, the service that holds the accounts, and kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie. It is what keeps you signed in between visits, and signing out removes it.
- vow_consent — the answer you gave to the cookie bar, either granted or denied, so you are not asked twice. It lasts 365 days. The same answer is kept in your browser’s local storage with the date you gave it.
Analytics, only if you accept
Saying yes to the bar adds one cookie and starts recording page views on Vow’s own pages. Saying no, or saying nothing, means neither happens.
- vow_sid — a random identifier with no meaning outside this site, so that twelve pages read in one sitting count as one visitor rather than twelve. It lasts 30 days from the moment you accept, and it is created only after you accept.
Each recorded visit stores four things and the moment it happened:
- The path you were on — /packages, for instance. Query strings are dropped when the numbers are read.
- Where you arrived from, reduced to the site that sent you. Arrivals from within Vow are not counted as a source.
- Whether the screen was phone-sized, tablet-sized or larger, taken from the width of the window.
- The random session identifier above, and nothing that connects it to you.
What is not recorded
- No IP address. There is no column for one, so there is nothing to keep or to delete.
- No name, email address or account. A signed-in couple and a stranger reading the packages leave the same kind of row.
- No third parties. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising code and no tag manager anywhere in this product — the events go to our own database and stop there.
- No tracking across other sites, and no fingerprinting. The identifier works on this site only, and is not derived from anything about your device.
- Nothing at all from a wedding website you visit as a guest. Those pages send no analytics under any circumstances — those visitors are the couple’s people, not our audience.
Changing your mind
Use the buttons at the top of this page. Turning analytics off deletes the session cookie immediately and stops any further recording; rows already written cannot be traced back to you, because nothing in them identifies you.
Clearing your site data in the browser has the same effect, and leaves you undecided, which means nothing is recorded until you answer the bar again.
More
The privacy page covers everything Vow holds beyond cookies — your wedding, your guests, and the four companies that do work Vow depends on. Questions about any of it go to vow@gavant.eu.
